NEW: Same-day booking for community session appointments

We are delighted to announce an exciting improvement for donors attending community blood donation sessions.

From 30th June, donors will be able to book an appointment on the same day as a community blood donation session – right up to one hour before their preferred appointment time.

This is a significant change that gives donors more flexibility than ever before when planning their donation. Whether your schedule changes unexpectedly or you decide at the last minute that you’d like to donate, it will now be easier to find a convenient appointment.

Previously, appointments for community sessions had to be booked by 4pm on the day before the session. By extending booking availability, we hope to make donating blood even more accessible and convenient.

What this means for you

• You can now book a community session appointment up to just one hour before your preferred appointment time.
• Same-day appointments are now available, subject to availability.
• Donors will enjoy greater flexibility when arranging appointments around busy schedules.
• The change will also help the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service respond more quickly if supplies of a particular blood group fall unexpectedly and additional appointments are needed at short notice.
