Testing for blood-borne infections
01 August 2018
All blood donations are tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis E, HIV, HTLV and syphilis. This leaflet tells you how and why these tests are carried out, and what happens in the rare event of a positive test.
NOTE: We started testing all donations for hepatitis E virus from 1 March 2017. More information about this infection is included in the leaflet.
