Fiona's story

Share

Fiona from Stirling thanks blood donors for making her and her son Craig’s transfusions possible.

"In 1994 I had several blood and platelet transfusions after an emergency caesarian section because of HELLP syndrome (HELLP syndrome is a rare liver and blood clotting disorder that can affect pregnant women).

"Craig was born 13 weeks prematurely at 2lb 13oz because HELLP syndrome meant my body rejected my baby and my organs started to shut down. We both spent time in intensive care for a while and definitely wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t been for donors.
