Genetic blood group typing project

Share

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service have asked a limited number of blood donors to take part in an exciting new project on genetic blood group testing, a technique which allows scientists to extend the amount of blood groups they can identify.

On 31st May and 9th June, we recruited donors at Glasgow Donor Centre to take part. You can read more about this here Volunteering for genetic blood testing

Participation was entirely voluntary, and there was no requirement to take part.

We are delighted to say we had an excellent response from donors, and recruited over people to take part.

Thank you to all donors, and all our colleagues for your support.

If you have any questions about this, please contact us online, email nss@snbtsnequiry@nhs.scot, or call 0345 90 90 999.

We aim to retain 6 days of stocks at any time in order to meet the requirements of patients in Scotland.
