Parkrun celebrates 75th anniversary of our NHS

Share

Donors and staff from across Scotland put on their running gear to show their appreciation to the NHS on Saturday 8 July.

Proud NHS supporter Dave was delighted to take part in Polkemmet Park's NHS 75 parkrun, in appreciation of the blood donors that made his run possible.

An A Negative blood donor until he developed heart problems, Dave needed a heart valve replacement (and a unit of plasma) in 2018. This July he took part to thank the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, and blood donors across the country. In his words, he's only able to run because  donors supported his operation when he needed it.

Donor carer driver Harry Mitchell, a local runner and regular steward at Camperdown Parkrun, also set up a stand to promote the places you can give blood across Tayside, Angus and Perthshire. Harry was supported on the day by Dundee staff Sue, Margaret, Lynne and Paula.
