Hepatitis A: Update for Donors living in the ML5 and ML6 postcode areas

Share

In May 2017 we introduced a restriction on donations from donors living in the Airdrie and Coatbridge area. This was because of the outbreak of Hepatitis A in Lanarkshire.

The outbreak appears to be settling but there are still a small number of new Hepatitis A cases occurring. As a result, we have decided to continue the restriction on donations from the ML5/ML6 areas for a few more weeks. We will write to donors to let them know once a date for lifting the restriction has been set, but please also keep an eye on our website for any updates.

If you are a close contact of someone who has had Hepatitis A, or if you have received a Hepatitis A vaccination because of this outbreak, you may have to wait up to six months to donate. Please contact our enquiry line on 0345 30 17 2 70 for more advice.

Thank you to all our donors living in Airdrie and Coatbridge for your patience over the past few weeks. We appreciate your help in keeping our blood supply as safe as possible and hope to get you back to ‘donation as usual’ as soon as possible.
