Share

Donors visiting Ninewells Hospital to give blood should be aware that roadworks are planned which will affect access to the hospital and parking on Ninewells Avenue. Please make sure you plan your journey in advance.

Ninewells Avenue road closure

Sunday 24 July to Thursday 28 July: Overnight closures

From Sunday 24 July for five nights, Ninewells Avenue will be closed in both directions from 7pm until 6am. This will only affect staff and donors leaving Dundee Donor Centre on Wednesday 27 July.  Diversions will be in place, there will be no exit via Ninewells Drive, and access to the roundabout on Ninewells Avenue will be cut off. Local diversions will be in place throughout the hospital grounds.

Monday 1 August to Friday 5 August: full closure

From Monday 1 August until Friday 5 August, Ninewells Avenue will be closed in both directions (between the roundabout in the middle of Ninewells Avenue at the junction with Ninewells Drive, and the roundabout at the top of Ninewells Avenue at the junction with Glamis Road). There will be no access other than for blue light emergency service vehicles. Access to the hospital for other traffic will be via the lower half of Ninewells Avenue and local diversions will be in place throughout the hospital grounds.

What does this mean for donors?

  • Dundee Donor Centre is open as usual
  • Donors are advised to allow extra time for travelling to their appointments and be aware there may be slight delays in appointments
  • Donors will not be able to exit Ninewells Hospital via Ninewells Drive leading to Ninewells Avenue, local diversions will be in place
