Share

After giving blood and platelets for half a century, Douglas Horne has made a difference to the lives of at least 450 people.

Aberdonian Douglas began giving blood in August 1968 and after 29 donations went on to give platelets.  His donor career has seen him give over 450 donations, which has saved and improved the lives of countless patients in Scotland.

It’s a privilege to be fortunate enough to have been able to give blood and platelets for all these years. Douglas Horne

Douglas said, 'It's a privilege to be fortunate enough to have been able to give blood and platelets for all these years. I've been humbled at the award ceremonies when you see the people you help and for me, donating is just a way of life.'

Thank you, Douglas - you've made a huge difference to the lives of many people.
