Laura and Emily's story

Share

Laura from Larbert thanks blood donors after both she and her daughter Emily received transfusions.

"I personally received two units of blood in 2013 after losing a lot of blood when giving birth to my daughter Emily. But in February this year, Emily who is now four, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in February this year and has required five blood and six platelet transfusions.

Emily, a small girl with no hair after chemotherapy, smiles at the camera while having a blood transfusion in hospital.

"Recently we did the Great Scottish Run family mile in aid of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital charity.

"I am extremely grateful to everyone who has helped us by donating blood. Obviously I can't give blood myself but I have persuaded several family members and friends to do it so they can help other families like us."

Thank you Laura and Emily for sharing your story and beautiful photos with us.
