Update on Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Share

Thank you to everyone who has continued to give blood and platelets in recent days and weeks.

All sessions are currently going ahead as normal. We will update you if this changes. Please do continue to give blood, as long as you are feeling fit and well, and are not impacted by any of the recent donor selection travel changes. This will ensure that the NHS in Scotland continues to be supported by a blood supply that protects our patients, families and communities. During this challenging time for NHS Scotland, blood donors have an even more vital role to play in ensuring that existing and new patients, who require transfusion, continue to get the blood products they need.

At the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS), we take great care to minimise any risk of harm to donors or patients. This is why we place a number of restrictions on who can donate at any given time – and why these constraints can and do change over time. You can read our most up to date advice on donor selection for Covid-19 on our live document, Preventing Covid-19 (Coronavirus). We will keep you updated with any changes via our website news, Facebook, Twitter and by contacting donors directly as required. You can contact our donor advice team on 0345 90 90 999 (Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm).  You can also see Scotland’s daily bloodstocks here.

Thank you.
