Share

From Tuesday 31st March 2020, Dundee Blood Donor Centre at Ninewells Hospital will temporarily relocate to the Marryat Hall

Sessions will take place at the city centre location (Marryat Hall, City Square, Dundee, DD1 3BB) at the usual times. Blood donors who feel fit and well, and are not impacted by any of the recent COVID-19 Coronavirus changes are asked to make an extra special effort to donate.

Session times

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday: 12:30pm - 3:20pm, and 4:30pm - 7:30pm
  • Wednesday: 10am - 1:30pm
  • Thursday: Closed
  • Friday: 10am - 1pm, and 2pm - 3:30pm

You can give blood as long as you’re aged under 70, fit our usual donor criteria, feel fit and well and have not been impacted by Coronavirus within the last fortnight.

Dr Sylvia Armstrong-Fisher says, 'We are delighted to have secured the Marryat Hall as a city centre venue for people to give blood at this time. Please keep donating as normal, if you are fit and well and not impacted by the Coronavirus. Blood donation is essential to patients and to the NHS.

'We have decided to relocate our blood collection sessions from Dundee Donor Centre temporarily to ensure it is as easy as possible for donors to give blood. Safety is always our number one priority. We have put extra safety measures in place at session, so you may notice some changes to adhere to the social distancing policy. Please follow the latest hygiene and travel advice when travelling to session. Blood donation is deemed an essential journey for continuing support of patients in Scotland.

'Our blood donor sessions are run by appointment. Currently, we are contacting all donors with appointments to let them know of the change in venue. If you cannot attend in the new venue, please do let us know so we can fill each donation opportunity. Currently, appointments are fully booked until Wednesday 8th April 2020.

'During the coming days, weeks and months we need 75 people to give blood in the Marryat Hall every week ,30 donors on a Tuesday, 20 Wednesday and 25 on a Friday. The relocation of all blood donations to the Marryat Hall will reduce the footfall into Dundee Donor Centre at Ninewells.

'There will be no change for donors who give platelets, and we look forward to continuing to give our platelet donors an extra warm welcome at Dundee Donor Centre, Ninewells. '

'We would encourage everyone to make an extra special effort to give blood at Marryat Hall over the coming days, weeks and months.  If you are fit and well, aged under 70, and have not been impacted by COVID-19, it's important you come forward and book your appointment to give blood.'
