Blood Donor Week 2016

Blood donor week is a celebration of blood donors in Scotland: it’s a chance to thank people who save lives.

Throughout blood donor week, we want to:

  • thank blood donors for their life-saving gift of blood, which connects every single one of us
  • raise awareness of the need for regular, unpaid blood donation
  • inspire people who have never given blood to start doing so (particularly young people in good health), and
  • promote and highlight the need to share life by giving blood

This year, Blood Donor Week falls from 13-19 June, and includes World Blood Donor Day on Tuesday 14th June. We’ll be posting from sessions across the country, giving out keyrings to our blood donors, and making something special happen on the night of the 14th (watch this space!).

However, most importantly, we’ll be carrying on business as usual – welcoming all blood donors (especially new ones), and distributing blood across the country.

Thank you for making this all possible.

Current blood stock levels across Scotland

We aim to retain 6 days of stocks at any time in order to meet the requirements of patients in Scotland.
