Erin 24, from Irvine wouldn't be celebrating 14 years cancer free without the help of blood donors.
At just nine years old, Erin Phairs was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer which developed in her lower leg. Erin, now 24, needed blood and platelet transfusions every fortnight for six months, and more during the surgery to save her leg.
"The surgeons used a brand new technique to save my leg, but the nine-hour bone transplant wouldn't have been possible without blood donations.
Every time I received blood I would start to perk up and recover from the harsh chemotherapy treatments quicker.
"I missed a lot of school during my treatment but every time I received blood I would start to perk up and recover from the harsh chemotherapy treatments quicker. I was able to finish school, take on an apprenticeship and have been working in the civil service for the past five years.
"Without blood donors I wouldn't be standing here today, 14 years' cancer free. Every single donor made a difference. If you have ever given blood thank you - you changed my life. If you've never given blood before or it's been a while, please think about giving blood. It will be the best present you can give this Christmas to someone like me."
