How Blood Saves Lives

white arrowEuan's Story
Euan "Euan was treated for a long list of injuries including head trauma, a dislocated shoulder, broken arms and wrists and damage to his spine."

Super fit cyclist Euan from the Inverness area required several life saving transfusions after an accident while competing in a mountain bike race in Spain in 2000. Euan was treated for a long list of injuries including head trauma, a dislocated shoulder, broken arms and wrists, damage to his spine and he remained in a coma for six months.

Euan’s trauma however did not end there, as during an operation to repair the damage to his spine, he developed complications and required further transfusions to support him through his treatment. Although it has been a long road to recovery, Euan’s sheer determination means that he is once again back to full fitness and competing in biking races against all the odds.

Euan says ‘ I would like to thank the donors across Scotland who were there for me when I needed them most, I might not be here now if it hadn’t been for their support.'
