Players and committee members from Thurso Academicals Football Club know only too well the difference giving blood can make. Together with team mate Murray Coghill they are supporting Thurso's blood donor session. Murray's wife Gemma was rushed to hospital after a major haemorrhage three weeks after the birth of their first child Sam. Gemma received 17 units of blood and blood related products, which helped save her life. Gemma explained, "Quite simply if it wasn't for the generosity and kindness of those blood donors who came forward to help me when I needed them most then I wouldn't be here now. I would have left Sam without a mummy and Murray without a wife." The couple are now keen to help raise awareness of the life saving role that blood donors can play and have been delighted by the support they've received from the football club. Murray added, "As a family we want to thank blood donors and would urge anyone over the age of 17 who is in good health to come forward and register as a blood donor if they haven't already." If you would like to follow the fantastic example of Thurso Academicals Football Club we would be delighted to welcome you to the Thurso session: Tuesday, 17 January Royal British Legion Club Riverside Road Thurso KW14 8BU 2pm - 4pm and 5pm - 8pm
