Olympic torchbearer gives blood for the first time

We were delighted to meet Jamie McDonald, 17, when he came along to give blood for the first time in Inverness yesterday. We are always happy to welcome new donors, so imagine our excitement when Jamie arrived with his Olympic torch!

An Ambassador for Sport in Youth, Jamie was nominated to take part in the Olympic torch relay earlier this month by Sport Scotland.

Jamie, who decided to give blood after seeing the latest advert on TV, is pictured with Katie Kynoch (Donor Carer) and Katie Moir (Donor Services Manager).

A keen footballer, Jamie hopes that he can encourage others to follow in his footsteps and give back to the community by giving blood.
