New Culloden donor session in Smithton Church

Share

On Tuesday 10th October, Inverness blood donors are invited to give blood at a brand new session – at Smithton Church.

It’s hoped that the new venue will offer more convenience to donors in the local area and that the service will be able to welcome some much needed new and returning donors.

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) hope to welcome 60 donors to the new session, and there are still currently plenty of appointments available.  Book in online at scotblood.co.uk, or by calling 0345 90 90 999 (9am-5pm, Mon-Fri)

Every donation given can be split into three separate parts, plasma, platelets, and red cells. This means that every precious gift can potentially save or improve the lives of up to three people.

SNBTS Head of Territory Dr Sylvia Armstrong Fisher says, “Over the last year only 3,680 new donors gave blood in the Highlands, compared to 6,433 in Tayside and 6,842 in Aberdeenshire. We would very much like to increase these numbers.

‘Inverness is the fastest growing city in Scotland. We really want to bring more donation sessions to more people in locations that bring more convenience.”

“If you’ve never given blood before or haven’t given in a while, the team would love to welcome you.”
