Cell Therapy Development

We are working on several projects to help progress cell therapy:

Limbal Cells
These cells are isolated from the limbal region of the cornea and a current clinical trial will determine if these cells can replace damaged corneal cells and stop disease of the protective layer at the front of the cornea.

Hepatic Project
Bone marrow derived stem cells are identified through markers, selected, then re-infused into the liver to treat liver disease.

Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Particles (SPIO)
This process puts labels on transplanted cells so that their progress can be monitored when re-introduced into a patient and is of particular value in the treatment of heart conditions.

These projects have the potential to revolutionise the way in which diseased or damaged tissue is repaired or replaced.
