Proposed site

The national centre will be based at Heriot Watt Research Park, which occupies a mature meadow and woodland setting at Riccarton, on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

SNBTS staff will be able to take full advantage of the campus' many sporting, social and cultural amenities, including:

• shops selling everyday essentials
• wide choice of cafes and bistros
• well-equipped Centre for Sport and Exercise (CSE)
• cash machines and the campus' own Royal Bank of Scotland branch
• safe and secure childcare
• Edinburgh Conference Centre: a leading venue for academic meetings, exhibitions and functions
• two on-site hotels
• several nature walks making the most of the setting.
